I have always loved Nantou’s forests and mountains. Since both my parents are from here, every visit just feels like coming home. — Ron

My parents are both from Changhua, and my grandparents still live here. There’s the sea, the family I love, and the oyster omelette my grandma makes that Ron is absolutely obsessed with. — Iris

Tainan is undeniably a food lover's paradise. We ate our way through the city, snack after snack. Since it was still during COVID, nearly every photo has us in masks, which now feels like a strangely unforgettable chapter of our lives.

Alishan brings together two things I love most: forests and trains. We came here before I returned to Hong Kong during COVID. — Ron

Penang is my favorite city in Malaysia. I had visited a few times during my exchange in Singapore back in 2019, and in 2022 I finally got to come back with Ron — soaking in the food, the old town, and all that warmth. — Iris

I once studied abroad in Tokyo, and later came back with Iris. On that trip, we saw Mount Fuji for the first time and tried skiing for the first time too. — Ron

One of my favorite hikes in Hong Kong, and the unforgettable place where Iris accidentally dropped her bag, along with her phone, passport, and ID, into the valley. — Ron

We made our way into this stunning city in the summer heat. That day, we decided to skip the cable car and hike down through the terraced fields on foot to get up close to the breathtaking scenery.

This was our first trip outside Asia. We experienced the Budapest Subway, the second-oldest subway system in the world that is still in operation, along with trams and the Bolt ride-hailing app. (Back then, I hadn't joined Uber yet, haha) We also took an overnight sleeper train together! — Ron

Prague had been on my list for years ever since I first learned about the Prague Quadrennial. Red rooftops, ancient towers, streets that feel like something out of a fairy tale. And I made a quiet wish to come back for the next PQ. — Iris

Growing up learning music theory, composers like Mozart were names that kept appearing again and again, so finally getting to visit the city where they thrived felt surreal. Walking through its days and nights, I couldn't help imagining what life with kids might look like someday, watching parents cycle by with little ones everywhere. — Ron

The same day I crossed the finish line of the Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon, we jumped straight on the Shinkansen and headed to Kyoto. We wandered through temples and shrines, and it felt like the perfect way to close out the trip. — Iris

This was a field trip I arranged to experience the city I had worked on for years — from vans, trucks, and the metro to pho and Vietnamese food. — Ron

This was another field trip during my master’s program, and also our first time in Korea. We biked and walked through the city, from major sights to ginseng chicken soup and Korean fried chicken. — Ron

This was the beginning of my life in the United States. In October, Ron came to visit this city I briefly called home, and together we saw a quieter, more down-to-earth side of American city life. — Iris

I loved the energy of NYC. I worked for a bit from Uber’s NYC office, just to get a taste of what it feels like to be a New Yorker. We ran in Central Park, had a great bagel, took the infamous NYC subway — which was actually not that bad — and of course, took Uber! We even drove in Manhattan, which was terrifying and nerve-racking. — Ron

We each flew in from Taiwan and Pittsburgh to visit our best friend. It was also the trip where we decided to spend the rest of our lives together.

We went to a casino, but didn't gamble. We also didn't get married here in a movie-like Vegas moment — but that's all right, since we'd already taken care of that back in Taiwan! Life's a gamble, but we're betting on each other.

One of our first big adventures after stepping into a new chapter together. We drove ourselves through Zion, Bryce Canyon, Antelope Canyon, and the Grand Canyon — the landscapes were beyond anything we could have imagined.
